Break the Ice: Gift Ideas for Host Families

If you are planning on staying in a homestay, we advise you to reserve a space in your luggage to bring a thoughtful gift from your home country to give to your host family. While this is not mandatory, it’s highly recommended, as it’s not only a kind gesture, but it is a great way to break the ice and set the foundation for a great friendship.

Plan ahead and keep in mind that you do not need to spend too much money buying gifts, but do bring something that represents your home country. If you have a tight budget and you are not able to buy a gift for each member of the household, don’t worry. You can buy one gift for the entire family, like any food item as they can be easily shared with any member in the household.
