Summer is here and it is the best season to be in New York City because there is just so much to do. The weather is nice, the streets are full of people, and everyone is out and about.
Here is a list of fun and (some) free things to do in NYC in the summer time:
Attend a SummerStage concert
Every year the five New York City boroughs host the SummerStage music festival, a concert offering diverse music styles and music performers from opera to Latin music. The SummerStage festival has both free and ticket-required concerts.

Watch a play in the open Delacorte Theater in Central Park
Every summer thousands of visitors visit the Delacorte Theater to enjoy a free play. The event held at the Delacorte Theater is called Shakespeare in the Park , which every summer The Public Theater produces plays, with at least one being a Shakespearean play.
The play is free, but you still have to acquire a ticket to get in due to the limited number of seats available in the theater. There are many ways to win a free ticket, one way is by trying an online lottery.

Grab a snack at Smorgasburg
One thing you can’t miss in NYC during the summer is an outdoor movie screening, which is available across all five boroughs on many days of the week with different movie genres to choose from. In addition to outdoor movies in the park, there is also rooftop cinema which is not free, but worth checking out.
