How We Place Students with You

The placement of a student with a host is a difficult process when it comes to matching people from very different backgrounds. Sometimes you will feel an immediate connection with a student, and will create a lifelong friendship. On the other hand, it is also possible that you will have very different interests and will not connect with your student as strongly.

There are many criteria that we use when placing our students. These include, but are not limited to:

·         Do you have any children?

·         Do you have pets?

·         What kind of pets do you have?

·         Does the student room have a private bathroom?

·         Do you have a room with two beds?

·         How long does it take for the student to get to school/work?

·         Do you serve dinner?

·         Does your family have certain dietary restrictions?

·         Can you cater to a student with special dietary restrictions?

·         Do you speak only English when students are around?

·         Do you allow the students to use certain appliances?

·         What age Students can you accept?

·         How large / tidy is the student space?

·         Do you have Wi-Fi?

·         From what countries will you accept students?

·         Can you accept students in the High School Guardianship Program?

·         Can you accept male or female students

·         Do you speak only English when students are around?

·         Do we have up-to date pictures on your bio profile?

·         How nice are these pictures (will students choose to stay there based on the pictures?)

If you are ever wondering why you may not get as many students as you would like, and you want more students, you might want to look at these criteria and see if there are any areas where you could be more flexible.
